Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents are the foundation of trust in bulk ingredient trade. Yet not all COAs are equal — and experienced buyers know that reviewing both manufacturer COAs and independent third-party reports is essential.
What a reliable COA should include
At minimum, a COA should state the product name, batch number, manufacturing date, test methods, specification limits and actual results. For nutraceutical extracts, assay results should reference validated methods such as HPLC or UV. For mineral salts and amino acids, identity and purity tests must align with pharmacopoeia or agreed customer specifications.
When third-party testing adds value
Third-party laboratory reports provide an additional layer of verification, especially for new suppliers, new batches or high-value APIs. They are particularly important when ingredients will be used in regulated markets where traceability and documentation audits are routine.
At VIRECHEM, COA and third-party test reports are provided for every shipment. Our quality team reviews batch documentation before dispatch and supports customers with specification matching and regulatory queries.
